IMPORTANT TIP FOR YOUR VASE CANDLE: KEEP YOUR VASE CANDLE SOOT FREE: Before relighting your candle, ALWAYS trim the wicks first.
*Each LEE & LOU candle contains the maximum allowable fragrance to safely give you the strongest scent possible. Each candle is hand poured and may contain slight imperfections that do not impact the products quality or function. To ensure you gain the maximum pleasure and longevity from your Lee & Lou experience, please read our candle care & safety instructions on the FAQ page before lighting.
Tip 1: THIS IS THE MOST CRITICAL STEP!
When lighting your Lee & Lou candle for the first time, it is very important to wait at least 3-4 hours or until the wax pool liquifies all the way out to the sides of the vessel. Once the wax pool is completely melted on the top, then you can blow out your candle.
Why is this the most important step you ask? Because if the flame is extinguished before the melted wax has reached the sides of the vessel, the wax has “memory” and will stay in this position for the length of the burn and will be an ongoing problem for the candle.
Once your candle has a set memory ring, this will cause what’s known as “tunnelling” where the candle burns deeper and deeper down the centre of the vessel leaving a rim of wax around the edge of the jar and eventually the candle will suffocate & won't stay lit anymore.
Here is a tip to try if your candle is tunnelling -
If you have noticed your candle starting to “tunnel” try this - Scrape the ring of wax around the edge of the glass away so the wax has one level surface.
Also try “pinching” off the soft black ashy part of the wood wick & relight.
You might be able to save your candle from continuing to “tunnel”
TIP 2: To ensure your candle burns cleanly and evenly, “pinching” the soft black ashy part off the wood wick prior to lighting each time is important.
This will always give you the best flame! Your candle will thank you for it…
SAFETY REMINDERS:
Here are a few helpful safety reminders to making the most of your burn
-The recommended maximum burn time for a Lee & Lou candle is for no longer than 4 hours.
-It is important to not leave an open flame near any children or pets who may be at risk of harming themselves or others.
-Burn your candles on a heat resistant surface. We recommend placing a burning candle on something to protect the surface beneath like a coaster, or marble tile etc.
-Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always burn in sight.
-Keep away from drafts to help burn evenly.
-For added safety, ensure the flame is extinguished as the wick nears the base of the jar or as the wax is close to being completely melted. At this point the glass can become extremely hot and may damage the surface underneath.
-Once your Lee & Lou candle has finished burning; Reuse, Restyle or Refill it!
